Dear .........,

I am writing as one of your constituents and as a campaigner of The Mission Worldwide to express my deep concern about the protection of children who have become victims of trafficking. I am currently setting up projects in Cambodia and all over South East Asia to Abolish Human Trafficking and the Trafficking of Minors.

Every year hundreds of children are being trafficked into and within the UK. Many children who are trafficked are placed in unsafe and inappropriate accommodation resulting in limited support and an increase in vulnerability. Our systems are failing these children, who have often suffered tremendous physical, sexual and psychological abuse.

The number of child victims of trafficking who go missing from local authority care is of major concern to The Mission Worldwide. In a report published by ECPAT UK in 2007 it was found that of 80 children known or suspected to have been trafficked over an 18-month period, 56 per cent had gone missing from local authority care in the North East and North West of England and the West Midlands.

In 2009, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre published a Scoping Report on Child Trafficking which identified 325 children as potential victims of trafficking in the UK and Northern Ireland between March 2007 and February 2008. And this is only a snapshot in some local authorities – nobody knows the real figures. This report found that 23% of these migrant children are missing without trace - some of them are likely to have been re-trafficked.

On the BBC News there was an article in Jan 2003 about the growing numbers of Child Prostitutes/Slaves in Northern Ireland.

I am aware that the UK Government has recently taken steps to improve the protection of these children including, significantly, the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings which came into force on 1st April this year. However, there are continuing gaps and failures to implement commitments, resulting in these children remaining vulnerable to further exploitation.

However I do have growing concern about our governments decisions regarding prostitution after reading the article from the Belfast Telegraph titled 'Belfast prostitution is out of control'. Within this article it talks about the option to legalise prostitution in Belfast. I am writing to express my feelings that his would be a huge mistake. Legalising Slavery is what William Wilberforce fought so hard to abolish in all areas of slavery not just in reference to Africans being used as household slaves.

The Prime Minister described child trafficking as ‘completely unacceptable’. Similarly the Home Affairs Committee in its report on Human Trafficking published in May 2009 stated that it was particularly alarmed by accounts that traffickers may be, in effect, using the "care home system for vulnerable children as holding pens for their victims until they are ready to pick them up".

The Government needs to meet its commitment to all children in the UK and Northern Ireland by reporting on the numbers of child victims of trafficking, in particular the numbers of children who go missing from care. I would like you to write to the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families asking them to undertake an immediate inquiry on the numbers of children suspected as trafficked who have gone missing from Local Authority Care.

The Mission Worldwide's campaign ‘Do Something to protect child victims of trafficking’ is calling on Government to;

1. Improve accommodation provision for child victims of trafficking.

2. Introduce a system of guardianship for child victims of trafficking.

3. Appoint an independent National Rapporteur on Trafficking with a special focus on children.

4. Not allow the legalisation of prostitution in Northern Ireland.

5. To pursue with greater intentionality the closure of all brothels and trafficking groups in Northern Ireland and the UK.

For further information about the campaign or The Mission Worldwide's work please go to www.themissionworldwide.com .

I look forward to hearing from you about the response of the Home Secretary and the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families on this urgent issue.

What is this thing that makes my heart beat and yearn for radical transformation and a supernatural intervention? A worldwide epidemic that is seek killing and destroying children and women from all over our nations.
Last night I watched the movie Trade about the Sex Trafficking Industry. It blew me away! I highly recommend you watch it if you are wanting to support us or do something in this area. My soul has become desperate and has developed an incredible hunger to STOP and do something.
My passion for Cambodia and South East Asia has become like a raging inferno of love for all involved in the Trafficking of Children. I am planing my next trip back to Cambodia either before Christmas or in January.
There is a child abducted, tricked, stolen, or sold into the Sex tourism industry every 2 minutes all around the world.

What will we be doing?

Jason and I will be going under the covering of The Mission World Wide. We will be going to Cambodia to fight our way through the red tape of the corrupted legal and justice system. This will establish us as an international Non Governmental Organisation in Phnom Penh.

We will also undergo some intense training in the area of trafficking by a coalition group called Chab Dai. They are highly skilled and trained in the area of Trafficking across the whole of Cambodia and have bases in the
UK and USA. They have a group of umbrella projects we are in the process of becoming a part of.
Within this time we will also be working through the legal stuff of a venture we are doing with Chab Dai and Viva Networks. Through Blue Tree; an amazing band from Belfast that have been traveling the world with their offerings of worship and within that bringing a much needed awareness of Human Trafficking. We are working with them to bring awareness and to put their raised funds to good use!
We will be going through the legal process with them to receive their funds through the umbrella projects of Chab Dai. This is a huge break through for us, Blue Tree’s heart towards us has blown us away with their support and generosity. It’s such a blessing to have people near us who have the same heart for Trafficking and Cambodia. Its a real answer to prayer for us.

Prayer needs:

Prayer for protection as last trip I got attacked and robbed. Not a pleasant experience.
Prayer for finance to flow in for the cost of the project set up. estimated at £60,000 and the staff to make it function. Volunteers to come from all over with skills to work with the children (both boys and girls).
Even greater connections and bonding of hearts.
That the Gospel will reach all the people in the brothels.
Supernatural intervention as we are working. That God will blind eyes that do not need to see us, Show us through dreams and visions where we need to be and when. Open Heavens and endless realms of possibility.

Ways you can help:

Check out our website: www.themissionworldwide.com
Host a fundraiser raising awareness and funds for our projects. You can send the fund to us in your currency via our website: www.themissionworldwide.com
Host a prayer and worship meeting to pray for us and our project in Cambodia.
Pray about what skills you have and how you can help us out either personally or as a Charity.

We are currently working in a country where there is still physical & spiritual evidence of the genocide that took place in the 1970’s. There is a darkness that is destroying people’s lives here and is impacting the nation. The state of poverty is one of the worst in the world, yet there is a growing source of revenue that is rapidly on the increase. This revenue is cultivated from the sex industry; including the growing demand for sex with minors (girls & boys under 18years of age). Although Cambodian men are the larger percentage of those using the sex industry services, there is still a growing number of western men visiting the country for the sole purpose of having sex with a prostitute or a minor.

Throughout the world there are believed to be over 10Million children in the sex slavery industry, this includes prostitution, trafficking, pornography and a number of other revenues. Although the figures and hurdles seem too great to believe anything can be done at this stage, we’ve decided to give it a try!

We are partnering with a number of incredible NGO’s (Non Governmental Organisations) in Cambodia as we “The Mission Worldwide” apply for International NGO status in order to start up a unique project that will: Combat Human Trafficking. Give aftercare to child prostitutes. Raise awareness on an International scale.

Of the hundreds of children in Cambodia that are rescued it’s believed that 60% of the victims are boys and to this day there are currently ZERO aftercare homes and programs that are specifically for boys, yet there are many that exist for girls. In our opinion we believe that this is a major oversight by the majority. We understand that there are many reasons why a focus on boys has been ignored which includes the cultural view on homosexuality and the homophobic church that exists both here and in the West. Another aspect is that some just don’t know or believe that it takes place. This does not excuse ignoring the NEED and giving them the same opportunity of aftercare and Godly love.

WHAT NOW?

We are working on some specifics here with the government and NGO’s to strategically plan how we can be effective both practically and spiritually in our work, and penetrate Cambodia the with the gospel which lays in the 10/40 window. We will send you the project specifics as it develops and ask you to be mindful of any fundraising opportunities that occur. We are working with a ballpark figure of £40,000 as a setup cost. This includes commission: over here on most business transactions there is a fee, these are cultural but not legal & non negotiable (the privilege of serving in a third world country).
